Why do bad things happen?

I never aspired to be a writer. I was definitely not qualified to write a book, but on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 God really started tugging at my heart to tell my story. Out of obedience...I followed His leading.

Through the long journey of writing "Twice Blessed,"  God has constantly stretched me beyond what was comfortable and what I was capable of doing. Every day, He taught me to depend on Him for every step. Before 9/11, I never thought bad things happened. Fear was not in my vocabulary, and my life was everything I ever dreamed it would be.

But 18 years ago, my world was changed on that one September day, along with the lives of many others. The age old question remains...Why do bad things happen? It is a question I have asked myself many times.

I guess the simple answer is we live in a fallen world and evil people do evil things. And I will never understand why these heinous acts of violence are still going on. But there is one thing I know to be true in my own life—God does not cause bad things to happen, but He uses them.

I pray He will use my story for His glory.

Shelly, I have watched you grow from this cute, sweet child, to a teenager, model and then adult. A beautiful wedding with Steve and move to New York was most girls ideal future. Our hearts broke for you on that tragic 9/11 day along with so many others. God gave you the strength to persevere. Fast forward to your life today, happily married, two precious children, and God still holds you in his hands and is now using your story and faithfulness to reach out to others.
Blessings to you and your family,
Much love, Beverly Nalley
